This week: If you’ve been feeling inspired to shake things up in your life, there’s no better time than now with back-to-routine season on the horizon.

We’re gonna run through 3 easy ways to get started with reinventing yourself — ending with an affirmation for the journey ahead. Let’s go:

🪞 First, a Quick Reflection

We’re nearly halfway through August, with just over 4 months left in the year. Now’s the perfect time to take stock of your year so you can finish on a high note.

As you reflect on the last 8 months, ask yourself:

Do I want to change things up in my life or try something new before the year ends?

If your answer is “yes”, this one’s for you.

Trying new things is one of the best ways to enrich your life. (And it’s also fun to switch things up now and then!)

Whether you want to reinvent yourself completely or just decorate your life with some new experiences, we’ve got you covered with some ideas and inspo.

🎭 How to Reinvent Yourself in 3 Steps

Quick note before we dig in:

“Reinventing” yourself doesn’t have to mean changing everything about your life and personality. It’s totally okay if you only want to change something small about your style or habits.

And if you don’t want to change anything at all, that’s cool, too. But change, growth, and evolution are also inevitable on your personal development journey.

Let’s look at some small ways you can get started:

🗺️ 1. Explore

Start by asking yourself:

  1. What kind of person do I want to be?

  2. What do I like?

For both questions, consider every area of life — from work and study habits to hobbies and entertainment.

List all the things you’d like to be, do, or try in each area. If it helps you stay motivated, note why you want each item on your list.

Feeling stuck? Look to the people who inspire you, from your friends and fam to your favorite celebs and musicians.

🤏 2. Narrow it down

Now that you’ve got your list, it’s time to review it and ask yourself:

Which of these things can I realistically do or try this week?

This is especially important if you included long-term goals or things you want to do eventually but don’t have the means for right now.

Here are some examples of how you might break down bigger “reach” goals into realistic, achievable actions:

  • Visit Japan → Start learning basic Japanese phrases

  • Publish a book → Write for 30 minutes each morning

  • Eat healthier → Have a fruit or vegetable with every meal

  • Get in shape → Go on 20-minute walks each day

✅ 3. Just do it

Pick a few items from your list and add them to your schedule for the upcoming week.

The key is to make time for these activities. That’s why it’s important to choose a handful of things you can realistically do.

We know “just doing it” can be easier said than done, though, so here are a few more tips to keep you on track:

  • Break big or complex tasks down into tiny steps.

  • Set reminders, notifications, or calendar events if it helps you remember.

  • Try techniques like temptation bundling and romanticizing your life to make it fun.

  • Focus on the outcome of your actions to sustain motivation.
